MAIN RULES AND FUNDAMENTALS OF CAPOEIRA
As some of us know, capoeira is made up of various elements, among the main ones we can mention the music of the berimbau (of course we can have other instruments as a form of accompaniment), ginga, roda and the various body movements performed by its members.
THE MEMBERS
One of the main trends in capoeira is that the capoeiristas take turns during the game, in other words, everyone who is part of the roda has to sing, play or play. Capoeira is therefore also about integration and inclusion.
WHY PLAY INSTEAD OF FIGHT?
If you go to a capoeira roda, you’ve probably noticed that the participants always refer to the martial art as a game and not a fight.
Thus, the game always takes place inside a circle that sometimes measures 2.5 meters in radius, and is called “Roda de Capoeira”.
IS THERE VIOLENCE IN THE MIDDLE OF A CAPOEIRA RODA?

Although capoeira members often refer to it as a game, we all know that it is also a fight. And you may be thinking: “If it’s a fight, then one day or another someone will get angry”.
The truth is that it’s very difficult, it’s not impossible, but it’s rare in the capoeira environment. In most cases, confrontations are carried out passively, because in the capoeira roda there are what we usually call the commandments or rules of capoeira.
MAIN RULES OF CAPOEIRA
- Respect the master above all else and keep your discipline during training;
- Always keep a constant eye on the entire environment;
- Never lose sight of your partner’s movements;
- Always remain calm in any situation;
- Ensure the safety of all training partners;
- Never use the knowledge you’ve acquired in the circle for pranks or possible aggression in the street;
- Always obey the command of the berimbau during capoeirista practice;
- Practice every day the movements that you have already learned during training;
- Do not move away or turn your back to your partner.
CONCLUSION
I hope I’ve helped you understand the rules of capoeira a little better. These are some of the most important ones that I’ve managed to organize in a summarized and didactic way so that you can learn and put them into practice.
There are still several and everything depends on the philosophy of the groups, so find a group that best suits you and go and play capoeira!
Remember that it is of the utmost importance to maintain respect both for the members of the circle and for third parties.
Never use the techniques you have learned in the friendly atmosphere of capoeira to promote fights or simply in bad faith to harm others.
The capoeira roda is a serious place that can sometimes promote well-being for your mental and physical health.
