04 TIPS FOR PHYSICAL EDUCATION EXAMS
Hello, Friends of the Physical Education world! In this short article I’m going to talk about 4 Tips for Physical Education Competitions, 4 precious tips to help you pass a Physical Education competition.
TIP 01: WHAT TO STUDY?
I’m sure you’ve heard of starting at the beginning, right?
Every competition for Physical Education has a public notice and every public notice has a part called“Syllabus“, and that’s where I’m going to start the right way!
Read the entire syllabus! See what will be covered in Portuguese, Pedagogical Knowledge and Specific Knowledge of Physical Education, after which you are ready for Tip number 2.
TIP 02: ORGANIZE YOUR TIME
This tip will be divided into 2 items:
1- How long will you study each day? Yes, it’s important to know how much time a day you have available to study and how much time a day you can study with quality.
I, in particular, can’t study more than 2 hours a day with quality, which means that studying 2 hours a day is MY limit. Your limit can be higher or lower than mine, you just have to know what your daily study time is going to be.
2- What are you going to study each day? If a Physical Education exam is divided into Portuguese, Pedagogical Knowledge and Specific Knowledge of Physical Education, you can’t want to study all this content every day. It will tie your mind in knots!
According to the Syllabus, plan what you’re going to study each day. Believe me! It works!
TIP 03: STUDY MATERIAL
Physical education books
Books are great study materials for competitive exams, but you won’t be able to have a book for every piece of content planned for your exam. The tip here is to opt for books with generic content, which cover various issues, such as the book Physical Education at School: Questions and Reflections by Professor Suraya Cristina Darido.
Competition handouts
Handouts for Physical Education exams are usually an excellent solution. They are usually very complete and have very reasonable prices. One workbook I can recommend for you is Physical Education Competitions Workbooka very complete and organized material that will certainly help you study for the exam you want to pass.
Material on the Internet
The internet is a world of information and that’s where the danger comes from! If your only source of study is the internet, you can get lost in the middle of a lot of information and lose focus of what you really need to study. But when you can’t find certain content in a book or workbook, the internet may be the only alternative. But be careful with the sources! My recommendation is Google Scholar.
Online Preparation Course
There’s an excellent online preparation course for Physical Education exams by Professor Eduardo Augusto. To find out more, visit Preparatory course for Physical Education exams: from preparation to approval.
TIP 04: STUDY STRATEGY
Study and do exercises in the final stretch – This strategy consists of studying the entire syllabus for the exam and then doing exercises with exam questions closer to the day of the exam, such as the week of the exam. This strategy can be interesting if you have plenty of time to study, i.e. if the exam is still a long way off, but it can be effective if you’re already close to the day of the exam.
Study and do exercises every day – This study strategy consists of studying and doing exercises from previous exams every day. For example: if you’ve studied Portuguese content, do Portuguese exercises, the same goes for pedagogical knowledge and specific knowledge of Physical Education. It’s an intensive strategy that can work very well if you don’t have much time to study.
EXTRA TIP: GOAL!
Doing exercises from previous exams is essential! When you do these exercises, set yourself the goal of getting between 70% and 80% of the questions right. When you reach this goal, you’ll be ready to take the exam and pass.
