href=\"https:\/\/www.dicaseducacaofisica.info\/en\/sports\/futsal\/\">Futsal<\/a> is one of the most played sports in Brazil: at school, in a square or at a sports club it is very common to see people of all ages practicing Futsal. Therefore, it is now time to get to know the <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">History of Futsal<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> \ud83d\ude42<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Origins_Where_and_how_was_Futsal_invented\"><\/span>The Origins: Where and how was Futsal invented?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dicaseducacaofisica.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/versao-uruguaia-historia-do-futsal.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dicaseducacaofisica.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/versao-uruguaia-historia-do-futsal.jpg\" alt=\"The History of Futsal\" width=\"600\" height=\"471\" \/><\/a><\/h3>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">There are two divergent versions about the <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">origins of<\/span> <span lang=\"en-US\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dicaseducacaofisica.info\/en\/sports\/futsal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Futsal (Indoor Football)<\/a>. <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">One of the versions is that Futsal started being played in the city of S\u00e3o Paulo \/ Brazil, in the Christian Youth Association (ACM), in the 1940s, because at that time it was already hard to find free Football fields to play the sport. The solution was to use the Basketball and Hockey courts in order to play Football.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Where_was_Futsal_invented\"><\/span>Where was Futsal invented?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">The most accepted version of the origins of Futsal is that it began in <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Uruguay<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> as it started being played in the 1930s in Montevideo, also at the Christian Youth Association.<\/span><span id=\"result_box\" lang=\"en\" tabindex=\"-1\"><\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Who_invented_Futsal\"><\/span>Who invented Futsal?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">Uruguayan Physical Education teacher <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Juan Carlos Ceriani<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> is considered the creator of Futsal, who used the term <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">&#8220;Indoor-Football&#8221;<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> to designate the new sport.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dicaseducacaofisica.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/quem-criou-futsal-juan-carlos-ceriani.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dicaseducacaofisica.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/quem-criou-futsal-juan-carlos-ceriani-269x300.jpg\" alt=\"Who invented Futsal? Juan Carlos Ceriani\" width=\"269\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Some_facts_about_the_origins_of_Futsal\"><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Some facts about the origins of Futsal<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">The <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">ball<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> was one of the first adjustments that Futsal had to get done regarding Football. The ball used in the football field was big and very bouncy; a smaller and heavier ball was necessary, in order to be used at an indoor field. That is what was done and Futsal has come to be known as the \u201c<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">heavy ball sport<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">Another adjustment was related to the <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">number of players<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> on each <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Futsal<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> team, since the 11 players of Football did not fit the court. Several formations were tried, until they reached the number of <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">5 players per team.<\/span><span id=\"result_box\" lang=\"en\" tabindex=\"-1\"><\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_History_of_Futsal_in_the_World\"><\/span>The History of Futsal in the World<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">In September<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> 1969<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> in Asunci\u00f3n\/Paraguay was founded the <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">South American Confederation of Indoor Football<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">, with the presence of representatives of Futsal \/ Brazil\u2019s Indoor Football.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">In July of <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">1971<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> in S\u00e3o Paulo\/Brazil, with representatives of Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay, Bolivia, Peru and Portugal was founded the<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> FIFUSA &#8211; International Federation of Indoor Football.<\/span><span id=\"result_box\" lang=\"en\" tabindex=\"-1\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dicaseducacaofisica.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/entidades-internacionais-do-futsal-fifusa.gif\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dicaseducacaofisica.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/entidades-internacionais-do-futsal-fifusa.gif\" alt=\"The History of Futsal in the World\" width=\"479\" height=\"448\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"First_International_Futsal_Competitions\"><\/span>First International Futsal Competitions<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">In <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">1980,<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> the first Futsal Pan American Championship was held in Mexico, with the participation of Brazil, Mexico, Paraguay, Uruguay, Argentina, Bolivia and the United States. Brazil was the winner of this competition.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">In <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">1982<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">, <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">FIFUSA<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> held the first Futsal World Championship, in S\u00e3o Paulo \/ Brazil. Brazil was the first Futsal world champion; the tournament was attended by Brazil, Paraguay, Argentina, Costa Rica, Czechoslovakia, Colombia, Uruguay, Mexico, Italy, the Netherlands and Japan.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">In <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">1985,<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> the second Futsal World Championship was held in Spain, won by Brazil once again. In 1988 the third Futsal World Championship was held in Australia and won by Paraguay.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"FIFA_takes_control_of_Futsal\"><\/span>FIFA takes control of Futsal<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dicaseducacaofisica.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/fifusa-futebol-de-salao-fifa-futsal.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dicaseducacaofisica.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/fifusa-futebol-de-salao-fifa-futsal.jpg\" alt=\"FIFA takes control of Futsal\" width=\"600\" height=\"448\" \/><\/a><\/h2>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">In <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">1989<\/span> <span lang=\"en-US\">FIFA &#8211; International Football Federation <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">\u2013 has decided to get in the dispute for the control of Indoor Football, creating new rules and changing the name to FUTSAL. In the same year, they held the <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">first FIFA Futsal World Cup<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> in the Netherlands. Bradesco&#8217;s Brazilian team was authorized by CBFS to participate in the competition and became the champion of the first FIFA Futsal World Cup.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Brazil_in_worldwide_Futsal\"><\/span>Brazil in worldwide Futsal<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">An important moment in <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">history<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> was when Brazil, the greatest strength of Futsal in the world, was officially unaffiliated with <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">FIFUSA<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">, joining <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">FIFA<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> and <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">FUTSAL<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">.
