But soon basketball also became popular with men and Augusto Shaw sent a photo of the first basketball team to the United States. <\/p>\n<p>In 1912, at the Associa\u00e7\u00e3o Crist\u00e3 de Mo\u00e7os &#8211; ACM, in Rio de Janeiro, he also started practicing basketball.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_First_Basketball_Tournament_in_Brazil\"><\/span>The First Basketball Tournament in Brazil<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The first basketball tournament in Brazil took place in 1915, promoted by the ACM in Rio de Janeiro.<\/p>\n<p>The participants in the first basketball tournament in Brazil were Clube Internacional de Regatas, Col\u00e9gio Silvio Leite, Clube Gin\u00e1stico Portugu\u00eas, Corpo de Marinheiros Nacionais, Am\u00e9rica Futebol Clube and ACM, which was the champion.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"First_Brazilian_Basketball_Championship\"><\/span>First Brazilian Basketball Championship<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The first Brazilian Basketball Championship was held in 1925 &#8211; with just two teams &#8211; Rio de Janeiro and S\u00e3o Paulo, and the same happened in 1926 and 1927.<\/p>\n<p>In 1928, the first Brazilian Championship was held, promoted by the Brazilian Sports Confederation &#8211; CBD &#8211; with four competing teams (Rio de Janeiro, S\u00e3o Paulo, Minas Gerais and Rio Grande do Sul).<\/p>\n<p>In 1940, the first Brazilian Women&#8217;s Basketball Championship was held in Rio de Janeiro. The team from S\u00e3o Paulo was the champion. <\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_First_Brazilian_Basketball_Team\"><\/span>The First Brazilian Basketball Team<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>In 1922, a Brazilian basketball team was called up for the first time to compete in a tournament with the Uruguayan and Argentinian teams, in which Brazil won.<\/p>\n<p>In 1930, the Brazilian basketball team took part in the first South American Basketball Championship in Montevideo, Uruguay.<\/p>\n<p>In 1936, the Brazilian men&#8217;s basketball team took part in the Berlin Olympics and came ninth.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Creation_of_the_Brazilian_Basketball_Federation\"><\/span>Creation of the Brazilian Basketball Federation<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>On December 25, 1933, the Brazilian Basketball Federation (CBB) was created.
