elbows during the Bump Pass is a very common mistake made by beginners when doing the Bump in Volleyball.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">The right Bump technique consists of keeping the hands together and the elbows steadily stretched.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">See in the image below the correct positioning of the hands and arms during the Bump Pass in lang=\"en-US\">Another very common mistake made by beginners is to think that the Bump is performed with the hands. No! A million times, no!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">The right Bump technique consists of touching the ball with the forearms, close to the wrist joint.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">The main reason to avoid using the hands when performing the Bump is the fact that they do not provide a flat surface. This is due to the fact that they are full of joints. The ball may, therefore, be misdirected.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">Notice in the image below that the ball touches the forearms, not the hands.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-189559 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dicaseducacaofisica.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/errros-manchete-volei-2.webp\" alt=\"Bump pass errors\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.dicaseducacaofisica.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/errros-manchete-volei-2.webp 640w, https:\/\/www.dicaseducacaofisica.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/errros-manchete-volei-2-300x169.webp 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"3_Hitting_the_ball\"><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">3) Hitting the ball<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">Hitting the ball instead of damping it is another beginner\u2019s mistake when bumping.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">In almost all of the situations during the Volleyball game, the ball is sent by the opponent with just enough force to be damped and redirected by the Bump Pass.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">If the ball comes with great force and you hit the ball when doing the Bump Pass, the ball will be sent far away, that is, the pass or defense will not be effective.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">During the Bump action, you should damp the ball and direct it to a fellow player. This action should be made gently and without any abrupt movements.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">Note: Sometimes during the Volleyball game, it will be necessary to hit the ball back during the Bump. Sending the ball back to the opponent\u2019s court or using the Bump to set the ball are examples of such situations.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"4_Using_the_Bump_at_the_wrong_time\"><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">4) Using the Bump at the wrong time<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">Performing a Bump Pass requires the ball to be lower than the chest level. Bumping the ball when it comes at chest level drastically increases the chance of making a mistake.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_to_do_when_the_ball_comes_too_high\"><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">What to do when the ball comes too high?<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">When the ball comes too high, you have two options:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span lang=\"en-US\">Using another technique to pass or defend, such as the Dink or the <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Martelo<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> (Hammer). Check out our article about <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Defensive Techniques in Volleyball<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"en-US\">Stepping back, if possible, in order to allow the ball to lose height, and then bumping it appropriately.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"5_Losing_Focus\"><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">5) Losing Focus<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">In Volleyball, the Bump Pass is a skill used primarily for passing and defending.
