lang=\"en-US\">Each Volleyball team occupies one of the sides of the court. The objective is to score points by grounding the ball on the opponent\u2019s court.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Origin_of_Volleyball\"><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">The Origin of Volleyball<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">Volleyball originated in 1895 in Massachusetts, USA. It was created by professor of Physical Education William G. Morgan. The Sport was originally named \u201cMintonette\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Basic_Skills_in_Volleyball\"><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Basic Skills in Volleyball<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">The basic skills in Volleyball are:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Serve or Service;<\/li>\n<li>Service Reception;<\/li>\n<li>Set;<\/li>\n<li>Attack;<\/li>\n<li>Block;<\/li>\n<li>Defense.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Volleyball_Techniques\"><\/span>Volleyball Techniques<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">Volleyball techniques are the skills used when playing Volleyball and performing its basic skills.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Serving_Techniques\"><\/span>Serving Techniques<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Underhand Serve;<\/li>\n<li>Overhand Serve;<\/li>\n<li>Side Arm Serve<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Defensive_Techniques\"><\/span>Defensive Techniques<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Bump Pass;<\/li>\n<li>Block;<\/li>\n<li>Martelo (\u201cHammer\u201d);<\/li>\n<li>Dive;<\/li>\n<li>Pancake;<\/li>\n<li>Volley;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Attacking_Techniques\"><\/span>Attacking Techniques<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Spike;<\/li>\n<li>Dink;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Main_Rules_of_the_Volleyball_Game\"><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Main Rules of the Volleyball Game<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Court\"><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">The Court<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">The Volleyball court is 18 m wide and 9 m long.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">The net that divides the court is 2,43 m high in men\u2019s volleyball and 2,24 m high in women\u2019s volleyball.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Volleyball_Teams\"><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Volleyball Teams<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">A Volleyball team consists of 6 players in the starting lineup.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Point_Scoring_in_Volleyball\"><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Point Scoring in Volleyball<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">A team scores <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">points<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> when:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span lang=\"en-US\">it gets to ground the ball on the opponent\u2019s court;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"en-US\">the opponent\u2019s team sends the ball out of court;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"en-US\">the opponent\u2019s team commits a fault or a rule violation.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_is_a_Rally_in_Volleyball\"><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">What is a Rally in Volleyball?<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">A <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Rally<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> in Volleyball is the set of actions that happen during the game from the <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">service <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">moment until the moment one of the teams scores a point. Each new service initiates a new <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Rally<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Sets_in_Volleyball\"><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Sets in Volleyball<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">A Volleyball match may consist of a minimum of<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> 3 sets <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">or a maximum of <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">5 sets<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span lang=\"en-US\">The team that reaches 25 points first, with a 2 point advantage at least, wins a set.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"en-US\">In case the game is tied at 24-24, the set continues beyond 25 points, until one of the teams builds a two-point lead over the other and wins the set. E.g., 26-24, 27-25, 28-26.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"en-US\">The team that wins 3 sets wins the match.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"en-US\">In case of a tie at 2 sets each team, a 15-point tiebreak set is played. The rule of the 2 point advantage continues to apply.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Volleyball_Coin_Toss\"><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Volleyball Coin Toss<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">Before the beginning of the game there is a coin toss that defines which team servers first and which side each team takes. In case of a 5<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">th<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> set, there is another coin toss.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Positions_and_Rotation_in_Volleyball\"><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Positions and Rotation in Volleyball<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><span lang=\"en-US\">Three players must stand at the Attack Zone, position 4 (left side of the net or left front), 3 (center of the net) and 2 (right side of the net or right front)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"en-US\">And 3 players must stand at the Back Zone: 5 (left back), 6 (middle back) and 1 (right back).<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"en-US\">After the <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Serve<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> the players may move freely within or around the court.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"When_should_the_Rotation_happen_in_Volleyball\"><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">When should the Rotation happen in Volleyball?<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">When the team that <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">RECEIVES<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> the serve wins the <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Rally<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">, it gains the right to <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">serve<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> and its players must rotate advancing one position <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">clockwise<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">The player standing at <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">position 2<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> (left front) moves to <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">position 1<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">, the player at position 1 moves to position 6, the player at position 6 moves to position 5 and so on. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dicaseducacaofisica.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/conceitos-voleibol.png\" alt=\"What is Volleyball: What is the Purpose of Volleyball?\" width=\"388\" height=\"619\" \/><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Important_Note\"><\/span>Important Note!<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li><span lang=\"en-US\">The player that stood at <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">position 2<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> and advanced to <\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">position 1<\/span><span lang=\"en-US\"> shall be responsible for the next Serve, necessarily.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"en-US\">The team that Serves doesn\u2019t rotate regardless of winning or losing the Rally.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Out-of-bounds_Ball_in_Volleyball\"><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Out-of-bounds Ball in Volleyball<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">The ball is considered to be out-of-bounds when: <\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span lang=\"en-US\">it touches the floor outside the court area;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"en-US\">it touches any object outside of the court;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"en-US\">it touches the antenna, the supporting cables, the posts or parts of the net outside the playing area;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"en-US\">it fully crosses the space under the net.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Hits_by_the_Team\"><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Hits by the Team<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">A team is allowed to hit the ball 3 times before sending it to the opponent\u2019s court. At blocking, the touch does not count as a hit by the team.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Four_Hits_Faults\"><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Four Hits Faults<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">The team that hits the ball more than 3 times commits a Fault.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Double_Contact_in_Volleyball\"><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Double Contact in Volleyball<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">A player is not allowed to touch the ball twice consecutively. The touch during blocking does not count as the player\u2019s first touch.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Ball_Carrying_Extended_Contact_in_Volleyball\"><\/span><span lang=\"en-US\">Ball Carrying \/ Extended Contact in Volleyball<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span lang=\"en-US\">Carrying the ball, catching the ball or throwing the ball is not permitted.
